If you’re looking for a hidden gem, look no further! Last year, my daughter and I discovered an outstanding full equine facility located in Purcellville, VA, called the Overlook Farm LLC. The Overlook Farm offers boarding, individual or group horseback riding lessons, summer and winter camps, horse training, bi-annual competitions, and more. What we love about Overlook is that they teach excellent horsemanship with healthy, happy well-trained horses and their instructors are highly qualified & accomplished athletes themselves.
Overlook Farm has it all! There is a beautiful 86×165 indoor arena that enables you to ride in any kind of weather, day or night. The indoor arena is connected to the barn, so you never have to walk outside during inclement weather. There are also two well-maintained outdoor arenas, where you can practice dressage, jumping, or other forms of riding. You can do ground training in a 60 ft. round pen. Or hack around the 30 acres of beautiful property to just enjoy being on a horse.

At Overlook Farm, horseback riding lessons are taught from the ground up. They include the care of the horse and rider and the creation of their healthy partnership. The instructors teach the proper position, a balanced seat and the ability to handle a horse quietly in the saddle. Most importantly, they always focus on the safety of the horse and a rider.

One of Overlook’s popular attractions are the summer and winter camps. Participants get to ride twice a day, including bareback riding in the afternoons. The riders’ get to sharpen their skills in dressage, jumping, and trail riding. Also, during the camp, they teach basics of equine management and daily horse care, including proper tacking of horses, horse first aid, and keeping the horses, barn, and stalls clean after riding.

The owner and instructor, Mrs. Terri Jones, is one of the most genuine and carrying individuals we have met on our equine journey.
